What a Cinematic Wedding Film Actually Costs, Line by Line

Wedding film quotes range from ₹40,000 to over ₹3,00,000 in Delhi NCR, and couples rarely understand what separates them. Here's where the money actually goes.

Crew — the single biggest line item

A proper cinematic film needs a dedicated cinematographer separate from your photography team, often with a second camera operator for multi-angle ceremony coverage. Budget ₹25,000–₹60,000 per day depending on crew size, before any equipment.

Sync sound — the difference most couples underestimate

Recording vows on lapel mics rather than the camera's built-in microphone from twenty feet away is a distinct line item, usually ₹8,000–₹15,000 for the equipment and a dedicated sound operator. It's the single change that most improves how a film actually feels to rewatch.

Wedding cinematography equipment and camera setup

Gimbal and stabilised movement

Smooth, moving shots — following the bride down the aisle, gliding through the mandap — need gimbal rental and an operator trained on it. This typically adds ₹10,000–₹20,000 per day, and is what separates a "film" from footage shot handheld throughout.

Drone coverage

Aerial shots of the baraat and venue require a DGCA-registered pilot and, depending on the venue's proximity to restricted airspace, formal permission paperwork. Budget ₹15,000–₹30,000, and confirm early — NCR has several no-fly zones near airports that catch couples out.

Colour grading and edit hours

A dedicated colourist grading the film separately from the photographs, plus the actual edit time — cutting a feature film from twelve-plus hours of raw footage down to something watchable takes genuine editorial hours, usually 20–40 depending on film length. This is priced as post-production and often runs ₹20,000–₹50,000 on its own.

What a full quote should itemise

  • Crew (cinematographer, second camera, sound operator)
  • Equipment (gimbal, drone, lapel mics)
  • Drone permissions if applicable
  • Post-production (colour grade, edit hours, music licensing)
  • Deliverables (feature film length, highlight cut, vertical reels)

If a quote doesn't break these out, ask for the breakdown before comparing it against another studio's number — a ₹1,50,000 quote with sync sound and a gimbal beats a ₹1,80,000 quote without either.
