Most Delhi NCR weddings cluster into November through February for good reason — comfortable temperatures and clear skies. But we've shot beautiful weddings in every month of the year, and each season has its own photography considerations worth planning around rather than around.
Peak season — November to February
Cool, dry, and reliably clear through most of the window, with one genuine hazard: North Indian winter fog, usually worst from late December into January, especially early morning. If your muhurat is scheduled at dawn in this window, build in flexibility — fog can delay drone coverage and flatten outdoor light until it burns off, usually by mid-morning.
Summer — April to June
Harsh, direct overhead light for most of the day is the real challenge, not heat itself. We shoot outdoor portraits either before 9am or after 5pm in this window, and rely on scrims and open shade for anything scheduled through midday. Monsoon — July to September
The most underrated season for indoor-heavy weddings. Overcast skies give soft, even light all day — no harsh shadows to manage, no scrims needed. The real planning requirement is logistics rather than photography: confirm your venue's covered backup for any outdoor elements, and build slack into the day for sudden downpours between functions. We've shot genuinely beautiful monsoon mehendi ceremonies under a shamiana with rain visible in the background — it reads as atmosphere, not as a problem, when it's planned for.
What we tell couples getting married in a shoulder month
Venues discount meaningfully outside peak season — often 20–30% on banquet rates — and photography studios have more flexibility on crew size and shoot duration when we're not juggling three weddings on the same weekend. If your family isn't fixed on a specific muhurat window, a well-planned monsoon or early-summer wedding can mean a larger crew and more relaxed coverage for the same budget that gets you a rushed peak-season booking.
The one thing that matters more than season
Whatever month you choose, tell your photographer the actual weather risk for that date when you book — not just the season. We plan differently for a September wedding with a 40% rain forecast than for one with clear skies, and that planning happens weeks out, not the morning of.
