Same-day edit reels are now close to standard
A short, professionally edited highlight reel from the wedding day, shown at the reception that same evening, has gone from a luxury add-on to something most couples expect at the three-day-plus booking level. It requires a dedicated on-site editor, which is why it's still priced separately from standard delivery — but it's no longer a novelty.
Vertical-first delivery for social sharing
Studios are increasingly delivering a parallel set of vertical crops specifically for Instagram and WhatsApp Stories, rather than expecting couples to crop landscape images themselves. This is a genuine improvement, not a fad — it acknowledges how photographs actually get shared now.
Muted, film-inspired colour grading
A shift away from heavily saturated, high-contrast editing toward softer, more restrained colour grading — closer to how film stock rendered skin tones. We think this has real staying power, because it ages better than trend-driven filters. An oversaturated 2019-style edit already looks dated in 2026; a well-graded, natural-toned image doesn't age the same way.
Drone coverage as a baseline expectation, not an upgrade
Aerial coverage of the baraat and venue has moved from "impressive add-on" to something couples assume is included, particularly for farmhouse and destination weddings where the venue itself is part of the story.
What we think won't age well
Heavy use of light leaks, film grain overlays and vintage-filter presets applied uniformly across a gallery. These read as "of the moment" in a way that dates faster than almost any other editing choice — an album is meant to last fifty years, and a trend-driven filter rarely does.
What actually matters more than any trend
Documentary honesty and technical consistency outlast every stylistic trend we've watched come and go since 2013. Choose a photographer for how reliably they capture your actual wedding, not for whichever editing style is currently popular on Instagram.
